My new old bike, the Peugeot, busted. That thing was a piece of crap anyways. So I picked up a brand new bike over the weekend. A 24 speed K2 Mach 1.0.
It's not the fanciest road bike they sell... but it's a good cross between a racer and a comuter. I rode it 28 miles yesterday and it totally kicked butt! It's an aluminum frame and has STI shifters (push the brake levers to the side to shift) and it has a sweet little computer that shows cadence and a bunch of stuff. Also key to this whole operation are the clipless pedals. The shoes clip onto the pedals (don't know why their called clipless) so you can maximize each revolution of the pedal.
And the topper here is that the bike's normally $600, but I got it for $189!

Love your new bike! Wow. The price is sure right.
The clipless pedal label is always confusing. Here’s a little tutorial I’m sure everyone is dying to hear:
Bikes used to have only plain old pedals or toe clips & straps. Now you can also get the clipless pedals, like you have, which really means “not toe-clip pedals.” Toe clips are the sorta boxed-in part at the front of the pedal that you slide your foot into, rather than just a basically flat pedal that you put your foot onto. Clipless pedals eliminated the toe clip portion—replaced it with a shoe that snaps (clips) into the pedal. Supposed to reduce foot fatigue, and increase power efficiency by up to 30% because you can now pull up as well as push down. More and more people are calling clipless pedals “clip pedals” now. I think we should all get behind that movement.
There you go. A little pedal tutorial from Mom.
Love you. Looking forward to spectating at your first triathlon!
