Harpoon Lagoon

As many of you know, I have a soft spot for video games. Actually, I can't have them in the house because it's just too tempting - I can play all day. But Kathleen and I have been playing a little game online called Harpoon Lagoon. Darcee turned us on to it with a post on her blog (which is awesome). Anyways, I got 8th place last night, which is pretty freakin hard. It's a fun game - you should check it out.

In Your Face, Styrofoam!

I finally did it. I called the Thai place for take out and brought in my own container. They were totally cool with it and didn't make me feel like a weirdo. I must not be the only one doing it. Also, the Vietnamese place said I could do it too.

Worm Your Honor

I've had this Pink Floyd song in my head for the past few days, so I thought I'd share the love. The Judge is shear brilliance...

Pizza Party

Ahh, yes, good times as always at Greg's house. Everyone got to make their own personal pie to reflect their own personality. Greg had all the toppings you could think to choose from and Johnny O brought the brick thing to cook it on and the big pizza shovel thing. The complete set of pix is here.

Lowes Rocks, Too

We had this Frigidare dishwasher for the past year and had the repair dude out 3 times to fix noisy, rattling parts on it. Finally I took it back to Lowes and got a Bosch instead. Can you believe it? I just walked in with a year-old dishwasher and said I want something else! That's sweet - I have some respect for Lowes now. And the new Bosch is suh-weet. Very quiet.

Radio Shack Rocks

We bought a Sony camera from Radio Shack for our trip to Hawaii. It turned out that we weren't really crazy about that camera, so after three weeks, I took it back. They gave me a full refund on the camera, the batteries, and the memory card. I walked out with this little Casio instead, plus a little cash back. I really like this camera. (It took the tulip pix below.) You have full control over everything with this bad boy. My favorite thing is that the flash can be set to 5 different levels of intensity.

The Tulips Are Up

I went up to Mt Vernon w/ my mom and uncle. We totally lucked out with the weather. It was cloudy on the way up and rainy on the way back, but sunny the whole time we were there.

The rest of the pix are here.

Do they speak English in "What"?

This video has swearing, so it's not for everyone.

That being said... I love this video. It combines two of my favorite things: the movie Pulp Fiction and motion grapics / typography.

Mt Si Relay & Ultra Run

I had my first volunteer experience on Sunday working the finish line at this race. Carl punched their bib # and finishing time into the computer, then my job was to find people's card and write down what he just entered on the computer on said card.

It was interesting to be at the finish and see different people's condition as they finished. Some were bouncing around in excitement and others were in pain and ready to puke. And I should mention some of these people just ran 50 miles! Can you believe that? 50 freakin miles.

My running partner, Nina, took first place in the women's 50K. That's right, I only train with the best.

Craig Neil's 40th

I've always wanted to do this. To have a party for someone and wear masks of that person. It finally came to fruition. Craig turned 40 & his fiance Kelly asked us to consider having a party in his honor as they are living in Norway. Unfortunately the video conference didn't pan out, but I did take this video.

Dalai Lama

We went to see the Dalai Lama on Friday at Key Arena for the Seeds of Compassion conference. There was a panel discussion with his holiness and a group of other people talking about how parents and educators can bring compassion into the lives of children and families. I really wanted to see the panel that was scheduled for later that day concerning compassion in the media with Dave Matthews and NBC's Ann Curry, but I think it was all booked up.

Anyways, it was amazing to see him in person - very powerful energy about him. Also really cool to hear from these local leaders of different social organizations and hear about all of their efforts to improve our world. Here's a little video clip of him speaking (not at said conference).

The One Gathering

Kath and I took the ferry out to one of the islands for a Reiki workshop put on by her office mate. It was cold but sunny...

Went to this place called Aldermarsh. Really cool retreat center with different little buildings.

Sweat lodge

Heated bathroom outside.

Jen giving a talk about life and spirituality and cool stuff.

Then we hit a quaint little pub near home and had a beer & food. It was a good day.

Animator vs Animation

Thanks to C Tyrell for sending this...
This is a short about someone working in a program called Flash. I can totally relate since I've been stuck in Flash land for the past couple of months.

New Couch

Here's the old couch... not bad, but too short.

We inherited this couch yesterday.

It's a big change going from blue to red. I think it could use some different throw pillows... either gold or black. Also, we'll need different color curtains now. But it does have about six more inches of usable length, so I can finally fit on the couch laying down. I'm already fantasizing about the naps I will take.

The Gorge Cabin

Once every couple years, I try to go do something fun to bond w/ my nephew Andrew. This time we went to the cabin w/ my buddy Jason, his girlfriend Misty, and their gang of 3 kids + a dog. Btw, I've know Jason since 4th grade. Due to a pass closure and some other road closures, a 2.5 hr drive took 7.5 hrs! But once we got there, we had a good time. Andrew immediately hit it off w/ Julian, who is the same age.

The kids had the loft to themselves.

Sunrise on the Gorge w/ JLuc and Tristan.

Catching air off the swing.

Whipping up some yakisoba action.

We hiked a pretty good rock face.

Throwing rocks on the houses below.

Playing catch (or "drop" as the case may be).

This was awesome fun!

Leah is a total sweetheart.

Andrew slept pretty much the whole way home.

I think we bonded a little more. I can't really think of anything that I taught him, tho. I feel like I need to impart some wisdom of some kind, I guess. Maybe I'll just teach him "please" and "thank you"... Adam (his other Uncle) can take it from there.
